First Federal Savings Bank now occupies a new two-story, 26,000 square foot building which serves as their operations center, combined with a new bank branch, in Lake City, Florida. The design of the facility is essentially traditional in nature, with two story columns flanking the entrance and the corners of the building providing a strong monumental image.
Each end of the structure is rounded, supported by columns, and articu- lated with exterior balconies. These areas house the executive offices of the bank and extend over a covered drop off on one end, and a drive- through for the branch on the other. The site is designed to allow vehicles to easily access the drive through, and reemerge out onto the highway.
The entrance to the building is denoted by a two-story atrium, which is highlighted by a monumental stair with a receptionist desk under the landing. The interior uses dark mahogany stained wood trim and doors throughout, brass hardware, and marble in the entrance foyer which transitions to carpeting elsewhere. A crystal chandelier hanging in the entrance atrium adds a degree of elegance and warmth to help make the visitor feel at home.
